## Summary

The Sheffield City Council has completed the procurement process for an "Online Counselling Service Pilot," aimed at providing citywide online counselling support for children and young people aged 11-18, extending to care leavers up to 25. The service, classified under health and social work services, is designed to enhance mental health pathways by offering a digital platform for information and support. The contract is valued at £128,300 and was awarded to XENZONE, with the service period running from 1 March 2019 to 29 February 2020. This open procedure tender had a deadline for submissions on 25 January 2019.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses in the mental health and counselling sector, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector organisations. Those specialising in digital mental health services, counselling, or support for children and young people would be well-positioned to compete for similar future tenders. The integration of online and face-to-face services also encourages collaboration with entities providing emotional wellbeing support, thereby creating a comprehensive service offering that can attract further contracts in this vital industry.

## Notice

This specification represents the service requirements for citywide online counselling support as part of a mental health pathway for children and young people with a target age of 11-18 and for care leavers up to the age of 25. The service will provide a digital offer of information, advice, assessment and support into services for young people and parents including information on specific needs e.g. self-harm, autism, eating disorders and LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and other sexualities). It will be linked to the Council Early Help offer, mental health support in schools and Health and Social Care services, including specialist mental health support, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and Voluntary and Community Sector partners providing emotional wellbeing support for children and young people. The service will complement the face-to-face individual and group counselling offer integrated into the Youth Information Advice and Support Service, Door 43. Access to early intervention to support emotional wellbeing and mental health in children and young people improves self-efficacy, promotes recovery and helps prevent inappropriate referrals to specialist CAMHS.
