## Summary

The British Library is currently in the planning stage of a tender for "001197 RFI E Commerce," aimed at enhancing their online retail platform. This procurement falls under the CPV classification for Point of Sale (POS) software packages and seeks to grow the retail income from approximately 5% to 25% over the next five years. The engagement end date for this request for information (RFI) is set for 10th October 2018, with all submissions due by noon on that date. The British Library is located in Wetherby, England, and is looking for a solution that offers control and flexibility to boost customer engagement and streamline user experience.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in e-commerce platforms and POS software, particularly those with innovative solutions that can enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency. Companies that are responsive to the needs of large cultural institutions, and can demonstrate experience in similar markets, will be well-positioned to compete. The focus on expanding the online retail capabilities may also attract SMEs that can offer tailored solutions for niche markets and customer interactions.

## Notice

The Online Shop is an established part of the British Library's retail offer, contributing around 5% of the overall Retail income, which we hope to grow to 25% over the next 5 years. To do this, we require a platform which offers us the control and flexibility to really start to engage with our customers and strengthen the value we offer as a brand. We seek a platform that will both help us achieve these targets and support our work towards a streamlined user experience. The information from this RFI will help to inform our decisions on the future procurement of ecommerce, Box Office and Membership services and systems. NOTE THIS RFI CLOSES AT NOON ON WEDNESDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2018
