## Summary

UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UKSBS), on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), has awarded a contract to AECOM Limited for the provision of Building Energy Performance Specialist Services to support the Smart Metering Implementation Programme (SMIP). The contract, valued at £428,332, falls under the "Technical testing, analysis, and consultancy services" category and runs from 14th August 2024 to 13th August 2026. The procurement was conducted through a selective method, specifically a call-off from the RM6314 Crown Commercial Services Demand Management & Renewables Framework, Lot 5: Carbon Net Zero Consultancy. This initiative addresses the need for technical, scientific, and social research expertise in energy performance and is aimed at enhancing the robustness and application of Smart Metering Technologies (SMETER) across a diverse range of regions including the British Oversea Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, the rest of the world, and the United Kingdom.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses with expertise in building energy performance, scientific research, social research, project delivery, and change management. Companies specialising in building physics, home energy assessment, and the development of innovation in the field of energy efficiency and low carbon heating products are particularly well-placed to benefit. It presents a strategic growth avenue for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that can provide in-depth knowledge of regulations, stakeholder engagement, and systems design to support DESNZ's objectives of net zero energy policies. Additionally, firms experienced in supporting government policy development regarding energy efficiency and smart metering can leverage this contract to expand their market presence and contribute significantly to nationwide environmental goals.
