## Summary

The London Borough of Hillingdon has completed the award stage for a procurement contract titled "Nursing Beds Block Contract Short Term Beds" within the health services industry category. This contract will provide nursing care home beds to support timely discharge from hospitals across several regions, including the British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, and within the UK. The procurement process entered the award stage on 15th August 2024, with the contract period commencing on 3rd June 2024 and concluding on 2nd June 2027. The competitive tender was initially published on 18th January 2024 and closed on 23rd February 2024. Following a lack of qualifying tenders, the Council negotiated directly with providers and awarded the contract through an open procedure above the threshold. The total contract value is £3,047,571 GBP.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses specialising in nursing care services, particularly those providing support for nursing dementia and general nursing needs. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) are specifically encouraged to participate, as the procurement is suited to their capabilities and scale. Companies like Halton Services Ltd and Gold Care Homes, both of which have been awarded portions of this contract, exemplify the types of businesses well-positioned to benefit from such tenders, fostering growth by securing long-term public sector contracts within the healthcare sector.

## Notice

The London Borough of Hillingdon is awarding two providers for the provision of nursing care home beds under two Lots described below under block contracts for a period of three years. This service is to support timely discharge from hospital for residents who require short-term support in a care home. Lot 1: Ten short-term nursing care home beds for people who are non-weight bearing that can support general nursing and nursing dementia needs. The contract associated with this lot will be for a three-year period. Lot 2: Five short-term nursing care homes beds for people who are weight bearing but have nursing dementia or general nursing needs. The contract associated with this lot will be for three years. A competitive tender for the provision was published on the 18th of January 24 and closed on the 23rd of Feb 24. Unfortunately, no qualifying tenders were received. As the market has not provided a solution to address the need the Council is able under procurement regulations to negotiate with the providers and make a direct award. This notice represents the direct award. Rather than the tendered period of a 3 plus 3 year opportunity the direct award contract is for 3 years in total.
