## Summary

The Civil Nuclear Police Authority (CNPA) is seeking suppliers for a contract titled "Counter-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (CUAV)" within the weapons and ammunition industry category. This procurement process is currently at the award stage, having been finalised with a contract value of £400,000, which commenced on 9th January 2019 and is set to run until 8th January 2022. The procurement was conducted through an open procedure, with the tender period concluding on 29th October 2018. The project addresses an evolving threat from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and requires a kinetic effector system that complies with UK legislation.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in security technology, particularly those that can offer innovative kinetic systems to neutralise UAV threats. Companies experienced in the development and supply of security solutions, as well as those likely to forge partnerships with larger engineering enterprises, will find this tender particularly suitable. The potential involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) indicates an openness to diverse suppliers contributing to national security efforts.

## Notice

The CNC are developing a Counter-Unmanned-Aerial-Vehicle capability in response to what is considered a fast and evolving threat from UAV. The solution must be a 'kinetic effector' system, that is designed to physically inhibit a UAV, rendering it non-operational. Current UK legislation does not support electronic effector use. There are various safety systems on CNC operational sites which could be inadvertently affected by use of an electronic effector. Please see the Specification for further details
