## Summary

The Coventry - Solihull - Warwickshire consortium is currently conducting a procurement process titled "COV - UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (BiC) - Cell Assembly for Pouch Cells. 2019." This initiative is part of the UK's Faraday Battery Challenge, aiming to establish a national facility that focuses on high-volume battery production for the automotive sector and beyond. The tender is classified under goods, particularly in laboratory and industrial machinery, with a total value of £12 million and a minimum value of £6 million. The tender period will close on 20th February 2019, while the contract is set to commence on 8th May 2019 and run until 1st January 2020. Interested businesses must register on the CSW-JETS e-procurement portal to participate.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly those engaged in manufacturing or supplying equipment related to battery technology, industrial machinery, and precision instruments. Companies that can provide pouch cell assembly equipment are particularly well-suited to compete. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to apply, as the procurement process is designed to be inclusive, allowing for collaboration among local suppliers within the Coventry, Solihull, and Warwickshire region. This presents a potential for growth and innovation within a rapidly expanding sector, aligned with the UK's strategic initiatives in battery production and mobility solutions.

## Notice

UKBIC is part of the UK government's Faraday Battery Challenge. On the 29th November 2017,it was announced the consortium of Coventry City Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, and WMG, at the University of Warwick, had been awarded PS80 million, through a competition led by the Advanced Propulsion Centre and supported by Innovate UK,to establish a new national facility. Opening in 2020,the UKBIC delivers on the UK's Industrial Strategy's 'Future of Mobility' Grand Challenge. It fills a strategic gap in the UK - facilitating scale up to high volume processes for battery materials, cells, modules and packs 2 / 4 primarily for the automotive sector but with wider application. The planned cell production lines will be used to develop and prove materials, cell designs, manufacturing processes and parameters 'at rate' prior to full plant investments. Further information can be found at www.ukbic.co.uk. This tender is specifically for pouch cell assembly equipment.
