## Summary

The procurement process for Optometry Services, initiated by NHS Midlands and Lancashire CSU on behalf of NHS Shropshire CCG and NHS Telford and Wrekin CCG, centres on delivering essential eye care services within Shropshire. The contract, valued at £1,900,000, covers a three-year period from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2022, with an optional two-year extension. The procurement was conducted through an open procedure, and the award was officially announced on December 17, 2018. This initiative addresses significant health concerns related to sight loss within the region, aligning with the UK Vision Strategy aimed at enhancing eye health and accessibility to services.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialised in health and eye care services, particularly those capable of delivering community-based optometry solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are particularly well-suited to compete, as they can leverage their agility and local knowledge to optimise service delivery. Providers that can efficiently manage minor eye care needs, referrals, and post-operative care will be well-positioned to fulfil the requirements of this contract and contribute to improving health outcomes in Shropshire.
