## Summary

The UK Shared Business Services Limited is initiating the procurement process for the "UKRI CON19002 Minor Works Framework" at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, which is part of the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The project falls under the construction industry category and is currently in the planning stage. Key dates include an engagement end date set for 22nd July 2019 and a supplier day on 24th July 2019, expected to provide insights into the requirements. The framework aims to cover minor building works with a total projected value of £9.5 million (ex-VAT), with individual projects capped at £500,000. The procurement will utilise a Term Service Framework contract for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

This tender presents an attractive opportunity for construction firms specialising in minor works, particularly small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have the capacity to manage projects up to £500,000. The planned supplier day offers potential bidders a chance to engage with the contracting authority, gain clarity on project specifications, and demonstrate their capabilities—making it a valuable opportunity for businesses looking to expand their portfolio in public sector contracts. Interested firms that can deliver innovative solutions and a strong response to building works requirements may find this procurement especially beneficial for growth.

## Notice

UK Research & Innovation ("UKRI") is planning to launch a procurement for a Term Service Framework contract to provide minor Building Works for its component Research Council, the Science & Technology Facilities Council ("STFC"). The framework contract will be for any such minor works up to a value of PS500,000.00 ex-VAT per project. STFC is applying a renewed and refreshed focus to its unique estate and infrastructure - recognising its strategic importance as an enabler of world class science and research. The current estate comprises a portfolio of old and new buildings, a diverse range of space/accommodation types, and a gradually changing position in terms of building condition and functional suitability. It is an exciting time for the STFC estate as the corporate Estates Strategy is refreshed, underpinned by the recent completion of full building/asset condition across the entire estate. This agreement will cover minor Building Works. It is STFC's intention to appoint one Contractor for an initial period of 3 years, with a possible 1 year extension (total 4 years). The Contract will be based on NEC4 Term Service Contract using industry schedules of rates, and quotation methodology to work on 'best price' principle. The forecast spend is estimated at between PS2 million and PS3 million (ex-VAT) per annum. STFC would like to invite potential bidders to a supplier day at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory ("RAL").There will be the opportunity to learn more about the requirement, open floor questions, and to have a tour of some of the facilities on site to understand the working environment, diversity and the potential of this requirement.
