## Summary

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has initiated a tender process for the project titled "The Upgrade and Re-Purpose of Building 115A," which falls under the Construction work industry category (CPV code: 45000000). This procurement process is currently in the Tender stage, with a procurement method of open procedure (below threshold). The project involves upgrading building 115A to support future explosives and energetic materials research programmes, including additional electrical fittings, data points, and safety features like conducting flooring and blast protection. The work is to be carried out at the specified location in postal code SK17 9JN. The tender period ends on 13th February 2025, and the contract is scheduled to run from 3rd March 2025 to 30th April 2025. The project budget is set at £85,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly SMEs, involved in specialised construction and safety solutions. Companies with expertise in electrical installations, data infrastructure, and safety engineering could find this project particularly beneficial for growth. By participating in this tender, businesses can leverage their skills in enhancing critical infrastructure for advanced research, potentially paving the way for future collaborations with the HSE and similar organisations. Given the specific requirements and the importance of remote operation capabilities, businesses capable of innovative and compliant upgrades are well-suited to compete.

## Notice

HSE have a requirement to upgrade and re-purpose building 115A for both its current and future explosives/energetic materials research programmes that allows for remote operation of equipment. Some of the areas that require upgrading are additional electrical fittings and data points; arrangements to allow secondary precautions work (e.g. conducting flooring & safety precautions relating to containment and blast protection within the testing area). Upgrading the building will allow Science Division to continue further research on current HSE research project (RAM Project - Advanced Manufacturing Techniques) which will allow the understanding and identification of potential safety hazards/concerns as this emerging technology develops and gets implemented into industry.
