## Summary

The Business Energy and Industrial Strategy has completed a public procurement process for the "Provision of a Pilot for Advanced Nuclear Skills and Innovation Research Campus," valued at £1,745,000. This tender falls under the research and development services category and was conducted under a single tender action procurement method. The contract period commenced on 9th August 2021 and will continue until 31st March 2022. The project aims to enhance capabilities in advanced nuclear technologies, with significant deliverables including a comprehensive gap analysis of current skills and facilities and the establishment of a physical campus for collaboration in the sector, located in London.

This procurement presents notable opportunities for businesses specialising in research and development, specifically those with expertise in advanced nuclear technologies or educational services in STEM fields. Competitors should ideally have capabilities in project delivery, knowledge transfer, and operational management within nuclear environments. Additionally, firms focused on innovation and collaboration within the energy sector may find significant avenues for growth through involvement in this initiative, contributing to critical R&D efforts and skill development designed to address the UK's net zero ambitions.

## Notice

The campus pilot objectives are: 1. A Gap analysis of current R&D skills and facilities versus those needed for Deployment of advanced nuclear technologies, to inform future collaborations and investment. This will be completed by the end of the campus pilot (31/03/22) and will be in the form of reports provided to BEIS. 2. Have a physical campus (with office and laboratory space) on a nuclear licensed site, where academia and the private sector can utilise for accelerating technology deployment.
