## Summary

The University of Salford is currently facilitating a tender for the construction of the Energy House 2.0 (EH2) building, a project valued at £11.8 million, designed to enhance research capabilities by simulating extreme weather conditions relevant to the global construction industry. This tender falls under the classification of construction work for education and research buildings and is being conducted under a selective procurement method via a restricted procedure. The tender period is set to close on 4th March 2019, with the contract anticipated to commence on 1st June 2019 and conclude by 1st June 2021. The delivery address is located in Salford, England.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses in the construction and architectural design sectors, particularly those specialising in educational facilities or advanced engineering services. Given the strategic importance of developing an innovative campus environment at the University of Salford, companies that can demonstrate expertise in sustainable construction and weather simulation technologies will be well-suited to compete for this contract. Additionally, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, enhancing their potential for growth through collaboration on this ambitious project.

## Notice

The University of Salford (UoS) has made a strategic decision to proceed with the delivery of the Energy House 2.0 (EH2) building on the success of Salford Energy House 1.0. This new facility will allow the University to increase the scope of research by simulating extreme weather conditions from around the world, servicing the global construction industry. Following design development and Value Engineering, the scheme has been reduced in scale to ensure the key primary output of weather simulation remains. Whilst this is the case, some of the systems providing weather simulation are to be retrofitted at a later date. The University has commissioned the production of a Masterplan, the purpose of which is to produce a development strategy that when implemented would create a more attractive, vibrant and successful campus. The key strategies behind the emerging Masterplan set out a framework for the future of the University of Salford. These have been derived through consultation with the Estates & Facilities Department, Academic Heads and Deans as well as key stakeholders. The shared ambition of the City and University is to create a high quality district of knowledge, innovation and creativity. The emerging Masterplan rationalises the organisational structure of the University. Additional information: Please send all correspondence via the InTend portal.
