## Summary

Radstock Town Council undertook a procurement process for the "Radstock playground equipment upgrade and surface works," focusing on enhancing the play facilities at Tom Huyton Park in Radstock, England. With the process now in the award stage, an active contract has been awarded to Wicksteed Leisure Ltd, with a contract value of £59,366. The procurement utilised an open procedure and included a tender period that concluded on 31st May 2023. The project specifically targets the upgrade of playground equipment, classified under the CPV code 37535200, and aims to maintain the park's status as a destination for families while offering a fresh and engaging play environment. The works are scheduled to run from 25th August 2023 to 1st November 2023, without necessitating the closure of the entire park.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses in the playground equipment and surfacing industry, especially those capable of supplying steal/metal equipment tailored to young children aged 6-10 years. Small and medium-sized enterprises are particularly well-suited to compete in such tenders, given the Council's openness to innovation and new potential ideas like the Multi-play and Bruge Units. Companies with expertise in public space refurbishment and compliance with necessary safety inspections, such as ROSPA, could find this project advantageous for developing a visible, community-focused portfolio.

## Notice

Tom Huyton Park Radstock is a city spec play park in a Town Centre location. The Park is adjacent to the Greenway and cycling network and receives regular visits from many local families. Known as a destination park it caters for both toddlers through to older children, with the well-known Octi-play as the central piece of play equipment. The park was initially created in 1998 and much of the equipment although maintained is nearing end of life. The Town Council has been maintaining the park since the creation of Radstock Town Council in 2011 and currently reviewing a new lease with Bath & NE Somerset. A plan is required to upgrade the equipment and realise the cost implications of the park. Some of the equipment is repetitive and it would be good to include options for public consultation for any improvements to the area. This will be the second phase of upgrades to the park.
