## Notice

Vitamin D deficiency is a significant public health issue, contributing to a range of adverse health outcomes. It is particularly important for bone and muscle health, with deficiency linked to weak bones, falls and fractures. On average, 1 in 5 people in the UK have vitamin D deficiency, although prevalence is higher among certain groups, including older people, people with dark skin, and people who rarely go outside or cover their skin when outside. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends all adults take daily vitamin D supplements all year round to prevent vitamin D deficiency. NICE also recommends that local areas work to increase access to vitamin D supplements. Newham's Diverse Communities Health and Wellbeing Forum recommended that local organisations take action to address vitamin D deficiency, as part of our commitment to reduce health inequalities. The London Borough of Newham are seeking to undertake a procurement to set up a 4 year multi-supplier framework for the supply of vitamin D supplements.
