Currently there are around 596 approved foster carer households providing family foster placements to around 1006 looked after children on behalf of BCT. We have around 215 approved related foster carers (family and friends foster carers, plus 41 regulation 24 temporary approved) and 340 mainstream foster carers (including step up, EDT). We seek to increase our number of approved households each year as part of our sufficiency strategy. The Trust wishes to establish a contract to offer the Fostering Service a psychological perspective, to support foster carers and staff with therapeutic approaches and interventions via clinical psychology consultations. The aim being to develop therapeutic understanding, support placement stability and ultimately achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and their carers. This contract will be for a period of 2 years commencing approx. 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2026, with an option to extend for a further 12 months dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
