## Summary

The UK Atomic Energy Authority has awarded contracts as part of an SBRI competition focused on fusion energy challenges under the industry category of research and development services and related consultancy services. The procurement process, now in the award stage, involved several suppliers, with projects scheduled to be delivered by August 2025. Key deadlines included the end of the tender period on 20 December 2024 and the contract start date of 21 December 2024. The projects will be carried out primarily in the South East region of the United Kingdom, with funding totalling up to £2.8 million, including VAT, allocated to this initiative.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in robust diagnostics systems, sensing, and control technology within the fusion energy sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, providing an avenue for growth through collaboration and innovation in high-demand areas. The competition's focus on cutting-edge research and development is ideal for firms with expertise in advanced diagnostic systems, control mechanisms, and sensor technology, positioning them to leverage the support and funding available to develop and commercialise new solutions. The diverse range of successful bidders, spanning universities, research institutes, and technology firms, demonstrates the breadth of potential collaborators and the varied opportunities for business expansion domestically and internationally.
