It is a responsibility of the Council to produce a Local Plan in a timely manner, that future development applications will then need to be in accordance with. The work we are commissioning forms an element of the evidence base for the Sheffield Plan, building on the evidence base already produced prior to submission and to support the examination hearings. To establish if the sites are viable modelling needs to be undertaken on transport and junctions. Unfortunately, the Council does not have the resources or skills to undertake this modelling and therefore, needs to engage a 3rd party to undertake them on our behalf. As part of this, junction 34 of the M1 motorway which serves Meadowhall requires transport modelling to be undertaken.
