## Summary

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is seeking proposals for the provision of a scoping exercise to identify evidence gaps related to work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This procurement, categorised under health and safety services, has a total value of £60,000, with a minimum value of £35,000. The tender is currently in the open stage, with the deadline for submission set for 4th February 2021. The contract is expected to begin on 15th February 2021 and conclude by 31st March 2021, located in Bootle, England.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health and safety consultancy, research services, and related consultancy services, particularly those with expertise in work-related health issues. Companies that can demonstrate innovative approaches to addressing the impact of changing work environments on musculoskeletal disorders would be particularly well-suited to compete. This project aligns with HSE's strategic priorities and may provide insights that benefit SMEs involved in workplace health solutions.

## Notice

HSE's Health and Work Programme is designed to deliver HSE's Health and Work strategy - aimed at tackling the continuing high level of workplace ill health across GB workplaces. HSE has identified three priority strands for interventions: occupational lung disease; musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and work-related stress. HSE undertook a fast track exercise to identify the science and evidence needed as a result of COVID-19 to underpin its regulatory activities and decision making. These needs include evidence related to the changes in working practices likely to result from the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact on prevalence and control of MSDs. HSE requires the contractor to conduct a scoping exercise to identify the following: * How the working environment may change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; * How these changes may affect the risk of MSDs and effective risk control measures; * What the key evidence gaps are. HSE will use the findings to inform decisions on priority evidence needs to take forwards and Areas of Research Interest.
