Access to Work is a grant scheme supporting the recruitment & retention of people with disabilities/health conditions in paid employment since 1994. Access to Work forms part of the DWP's strategic goals to lower unemployment and remove barriers to work. The Holistic Assessment is a critical part of the Access to Work claim. The Holistic Assessments are used since 2011 where it is unclear how a customer's condition affects how they could do their job, not to diagnose disabilities/health conditions. Assessments are carried out by suitably trained and experienced assessors who are responsible for recommending correct, high quality workplace adjustment solutions through an objective analysis of how an individual's disability or health condition affects their ability to do their job. This includes recommendations for the provision and purchase of specialist equipment, workplace adaptations or a remote support worker. Delivery is expected to commence in June/July 2023, covering England, Scotland and Wales.
