## Summary

The Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is overseeing a procurement process titled "34-2018 - Salvington Lodge Redevelopment - M&E Services", aimed at appointing a Mechanical & Electrical Services Engineer for a refurbishment project at their facility located in Worthing, England. This initiative falls under the category of consultative engineering and construction services with a total contract value of £45,000. The tender process, which was initiated through a selective procurement method, has completed the announcement stage with the award of the contract taking place on June 12, 2019. The overall contract period is set from June 21, 2019, to December 31, 2019, and bids were expected to be submitted by June 4, 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs within the mechanical and electrical engineering sector, particularly those with experience in health and safety standards relevant to mental health facilities. Firms that have a strong capability in providing consultative engineering services and have previously worked on projects involving complex healthcare environments, especially those requiring stringent safety measures, would be well-positioned to compete effectively for this contract. The redevelopment aims to enhance services for vulnerable populations, further emphasising the need for high-quality, safety-compliant engineering solutions.

## Notice

The Trust has a requirement to appoint a Mechanical & Electrical Services Engineer for a refurbishment project at their Swandean site. Salvington Lodge is a mental health inpatient unit on the outskirts of Worthing and operated by Sussex Community Foundation Trust (SCFT) in the building which is owned by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT). A redevelopment project is being proposed that will relocate some of the SCFT operations and allow joint occupation between SCFT and SPFT for inpatient and outpatient activities. The SPFT development will create a Dementia Care centre of excellence, the SCFT development is awaiting final operational review. The Salvington Lodge building is a two storey construction with four wards in a cross formation built into a sloping landscape. The downstairs unit has ground level access and the upper unit has ground level access to two wings and the common reception area. The lower floor area is out of scope but shares services with the upper floor. The upper floor area has a total floor area of 1,982m2, providing 649m2 for SCPT ward space, 1,589m2 SPFT ward space and 365m2 of shared space (reception, kitchen, storage etc). The client group is vulnerable and there are stringent requirements for client and staff safety included anti-ligature and security measures. SPFT are inviting bids from M&E service consultants to join the project team. A decision regarding the number of projects to take forward will be made once costs are established and bidding consultants should be aware that appointments will be made to RIBA 2 in the first instance.
