## Summary

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is seeking bids for the procurement of an Active Cell Viewing System Cameras, related to the European Spallation Source (ESS) project based in Lund, Sweden. This tender falls under the goods category and is valued at approximately £400,000. The procurement process is currently in the Tender stage, with an open procedure method. The deadline for submitting proposals is 5th August 2019, and the contract will commence on 20th August 2019, lasting until 20th May 2020. The delivery addresses encompass various locations including the UK and international territories.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in high-performance camera equipment capable of operating in demanding environments, particularly those involving gamma radiation. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have experience in the scientific research sector or have previously engaged with high-tech installations would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The project's association with advanced neutron research further indicates a need for innovative solutions, making it a viable opportunity for companies focused on cutting-edge technology.

## Notice

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) committed to the goal of building and operating the world leading facility for research using neutrons. Once constructed in Lund, Sweden, it will provide new opportunities for researchers in a broad range of scientific areas including life sciences, energy, environmental technology, cultural heritage and fundamental physics. It will be an accelerator-based facility producing neutrons for a large array of advanced instruments. The UK is a partner in construction of the ESS alongside 15 other European countries and has committed significant funding for construction. STFC is managing the UK contribution to ESS. The Active Cell Facility is one such contribution to be delivered by RACE - a department of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. Inside the Active Cells exhausted, highly active parts involved in the neutron generation will be size-reduced using remote handling technologies and removed for confinement. Therefore, any equipment used within the Active Cell must be able to withstand gamma radiation doses from moderate to high. A fundamental part of the ACF Control System is the Viewing System. The Active Cell will be a windowless environment where the only view on processes ran inside the Cell will be provided by cameras to operators acting remotely in a Control Room.
