## Summary

The Homes and Communities Agency is seeking to appoint a contractor for the demolition of industrial units at the Hansteen North East Industrial Estate in Peterlee. The project, classified under construction work, involves extensive demolition tasks including the removal of ten contaminated units, with specific attention to asbestos decontamination. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, having published the opportunity on 26 October 2017, while tenders were due by 24 November 2017. The contract is set to commence on 15 January 2018 and run until 30 April 2018, with a total budget of £300,000, and a minimum contract value of £150,000.

This procurement initiative presents significant opportunities for construction-related businesses, particularly those specialising in demolition and hazardous material removal. Companies that are licensed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and members of recognised asbestos removal associations (such as ARCA) should consider their candidacy strongly, as the project requires compliance with stringent safety regulations and a phased approach to the demolition process. Potential suppliers can leverage this contract to enhance their portfolio while contributing to a significant public infrastructure project in the North East of England.
