## Summary

The Environment Agency has awarded a contract to Eunomia Research & Consulting Ltd. for a project titled "RDE633 Impact of water quality on natural capital benefits derived by coastal environments." This research and development consultancy falls under the services category and aims to explore the benefits derived from freshwater, estuarine, and coastal environments. The contract is valued at £49,995 and will commence on 12th August 2024 and conclude on 14th February 2025. The procurement process was selective, a call-off from a framework agreement, and it attracted interest from SMEs and VCSEs. The project delivery covers multiple locations, including the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Europe, and globally.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental research, consultancy, and data analysis. Companies with strengths in natural capital assessment, ecosystem services, and socio-economic data analytics will find this contract particularly appealing. SMEs and VCSEs are highly encouraged to engage, given the suitability criteria outlined. The project's broad geographical coverage and the necessity for specialised knowledge indicate substantial potential for those capable of delivering high-quality research and impactful insights into environmental and socio-economic interdependencies.

## Notice

The focus of the present work is on benefits derived directly or indirectly from freshwater, estuarine and coastal environments. We aim to work with others wherever possible to couple information on the state of natural assets and ecosystem services (including data from EA monitoring but also non-EA data where appropriate) with socio-economic data (again, where appropriate and available). This will enable us to update or develop new metrics to describe natural capital benefits and provide support to those who wish to use them. It will also allow us to highlight where we have insufficient data or methods and therefore evidence gaps.
