## Summary

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is planning a tender for "CCUS Development: Engineering and Technical Advisory Support," aimed at providing expertise on carbon capture, usage, and storage (CCUS). The engagement event is scheduled for 18th October 2019, taking place at their office located at 1 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0ET. Interested parties must sign up via Eventbrite before the deadline on 18th October. This procurement falls under the construction and engineering sectors, with potential suppliers encouraged to join the Heat Networks and Electricity Generation Assets (HELGA) dynamic purchasing system by the end of October 2019 to participate in the tender process.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for engineering consultancy firms, especially those specialising in energy and environmental advisory services. Businesses that focus on developing innovative CCUS technologies or possess experience in project delivery for power and chemical plants will be well-positioned to compete. By engaging in this procurement, successful bidders can contribute to the government's ambitious plans for CCUS deployment while potentially securing lucrative contracts aimed at overcoming commercial barriers in this emerging market.

## Notice

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is hosting a supplier engagement to share our plans to contract engineering and technical advisory support on carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) with the details as follows: When: 2-4pm Friday 18th October 2019 Where: Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, 1 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0ET To sign up to the event, please use the following link to Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ccus-engineering-advisory-support-tickets-74844193999?aff=Lin1 The password is 'CCUSAdvisors!'. In 2018 the Government published the CCUS Action Plan, which set out our ambition to have the option to deploy CCUS during the 2030s, subject to costs coming down sufficiently, and our commitment to enable the deployment of the first CCUS facility in the UK, to be commissioning from the mid-2020s. It also highlighted that the barriers to deployment of CCUS are primarily commercial, not technical, and set out the actions we were taking through our Review of CCUS Delivery and Investment Frameworks to identify investable commercial models. In 2019, Government consulted on potential business models for CCUS, across power CCUS, industrial CCUS, CO2 transport and storage infrastructure, and hydrogen production with CCUS. This potential procurement will seek engineering and technical advisory support for: - Further development of business models for CCUS, including testing potential models from an engineering and technical perspective, followed by any engineering and technical advice required on implementation of these models. - Any potential commercial negotiations which Government chooses to enter in to with CCUS projects. Heat Networks and Electricity Generation Assets (HELGA) This research project will be procured through the Heat Networks and Electricity Generation Assets (HELGA) dynamic purchasing system which is run by the Crown Commercial Service. This will be run through HELGA Service 1 - Energy Advisory, Design and Technical Services Full details of this requirement will be shared with appointed HELGA suppliers when the competition launches. To be eligible to bid into this project, you will have to be an appointed supplier on HELGA, which we recommend doing by the end of October 2019.
