## Summary

The University of Birmingham is currently conducting a tender process for the supply and installation of a gravity gradiometer for underground surveying, referenced as SC7401/19. This project falls within the geophysical instruments industry category and has a total budget of up to £1,166,666.66 plus VAT. The tender period is open until 1 August 2019, and the contract is expected to commence on 26 August 2019, lasting until 13 March 2020. The project is being funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is part of a larger initiative to enhance the geophysics community's capabilities in characterising buried infrastructure.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in geophysical instruments, sensor technology, and related engineering services. Companies that can provide innovative solutions for underground surveying, along with the necessary training and support, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to apply, particularly those with expertise in the transportable and characterisation tools relevant to the natural sciences and technology sectors.

## Notice

TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF A GRAVITY GRADIOMETER FOR UNDERGROUND SURVEYING - UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM. REFERENCE: SC7401/19 This project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the procurement is dependent on the final funding agreement. The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply and installation of a transportable gravity gradiometer for the detection of underground targets such as buried infrastructure (culverts, sewers, tunnels), mineshafts or voids. This will be used to act as a characterisation tool for the UKCRIC National Buried Infrastructure Facility, to characterise test sites in the field for the Geophysics project within the Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Timing, and to provide currently unavailable gravity gradiometry data to the geophysics community. Moreover, the gradiometer and survey data will be continuously used for demonstration to end-users throughout the research programme, creating early market pull for the sensors coming being developed in the Hub. Overall budget for this item is up to PS1,166,666.66 + VAT, delivery to the NBIF, training and manuals and warranties over the length of the hub grant.
