## Summary

The Newcastle University is seeking tenders for the supply and installation of a single-molecule enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay analyser for their BioScreening Core Facility. This equipment will enhance their biomarker quantitative assays validation capability. The procurement is under the CPV classification "Biochemical analysers" and has a value of £250,000. The tender deadline is January 30, 2024, with the contract period starting on March 18, 2024, lasting until March 18, 2029.

This tender opportunity from Newcastle University is ideal for businesses in the goods category, particularly those involved in supplying and maintaining scientific equipment. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would find this tender suitable, as the University is open to engaging with smaller businesses. The procurement method for this opportunity is an open procedure (below threshold), providing a fair chance for various businesses to compete for this contract.

## Notice

The Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University has a well-established Core Scientific Research Facility model. The BioScreening Core Facility established over 10 years ago at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality is dedicated to the provision of services in the areas of sample processing, biomarker quantitative assays validation and assessment. For translational and clinical researchers, it establishes a much-needed connectivity with shared NHS clinical research facilities and it is often involved in clinical trials. Quite often, biomarker measurements in biological fluids fall below the quantitation limit of existing bioassays and platforms. This has significant implications for the quantification of the analytes in samples of clinical origin, the interpretation of the results and ultimately the strength and validity of translational research. We are therefore looking to incorporate to our facility an analyser for 96-well format single-molecule enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (digital ELISA) that can significantly expand the dynamic range of analyte detection and offers the flexibility to expand the ultrasensitive detection to our own assays already in place; the analyser should be ideally accompanied by a microplate washer and microplate shaker. This purchase is subject to funding confirmation by the MRC. The University reserves the right not to award a contract. The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment detailed in Section 3.1 Technical Specification to the University, including 12 months warranty period followed by a 4-year maintenance and servicing plan to cover all components and all training necessary for safe and reliable operation of the system and a complete set of operating and maintenance documents.
