## Summary

The Environment Agency is currently inviting tenders for the National Contract for Hydro Acoustic Instruments, aimed at procurement within the industry category of surveying and hydrological instruments. This tender is in the active stage, with the submission deadline set for 23rd November 2020. The contract, which will commence on 1st March 2021 and run until 28th February 2023, encompasses opportunities for the provision of equipment essential for the assessment of water quantity in the environment across various locations, including the United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories. The procurement is being conducted via an open method to facilitate competition among suppliers.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in hydrographic, oceanographic, and hydrological instruments and appliances. Companies with expertise in mobile profiling, point-velocity measurement, and fixed-deployment profiling instruments will be well-positioned to compete for this contract. Furthermore, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, allowing for a diverse range of suppliers to engage in this long-term requirement, providing a chance to expand their footprint within the public procurement sector.

## Notice

The Environment Agency's Hydrometry teams are responsible for assessing the quantity of water in the environment. This includes rivers and streams, groundwater aquifers and lakes. Hydro-acoustic instrumentation can be used to measure water in rivers and streams and in lakes and is a long term on going requirement. Hydro-acoustic instrumentation is bought and operated by area Hydrometry and Telemetry teams. Technical support, training and purchasing advice is provided by experts in the Water Resources Measurement Unit. This is a long term ongoing requirement. Hydro-acoustic instruments have been chosen by the Environment Agency as a very accurate and cost effective method of measuring water in the environment. The instruments can be broken down into three broad groups: - - Mobile profiling instruments - For medium streams to the largest rivers which are moved across river on flotation boat or unmanned 'drone' boat and are used to validate our flow gauging station network, providing a 'one-time' measurement of flow - Mobile point-velocity instruments for wading measurements in shallow water. These measurements are made at a number of locations across streams and provide a 'one-time' measurement of flow. - Fixed-deployment profiling instruments, including echo-correlation instruments for medium/large rivers. Fixed to bank/bed and provide a continuous reading of flow Additional information: Thank you for your interest in tendering for this requirement, You will need to access the documents through Bravo Solutions portal. 1) The web address is https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk and click the link to register - Accept the terms and conditions and click 'continue' - Enter your correct business and user details - Note the username you chose and click 'Save' when complete - You will shortly receive an email with your unique password (please keep this secure). 2.
