## Summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust procured water treatment services to protect patients, staff and visitors and reduce the risk of waterborne infections, including legionella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The services cover servicing and maintenance of thermostatic mixing valves and taps, including reactive maintenance, and servicing and maintenance of wastewater pumping stations, also including reactive maintenance. The scope can expand when separate existing contracts expire and are brought into this arrangement. The work is delivered for the Trust in Nottingham, at its Hucknall Road location in the East Midlands. This is a healthcare facilities maintenance requirement, with related work covering pumps, valves, taps and mechanical building installations.

The procurement is complete and was awarded on 20 August 2026 to Hydraclean Limited. It was a selective call-off from Lot 4 of the NHS Shared Business Services SBS10509 Building Safety and Fire Compliance Framework, rather than an open standalone tender. The contract period is 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2031. Its awarded value is £1,160,000, with an estimated minimum value of £232,000. The tender submission deadline was 3 August 2026 at 12:00. The contract may be extended by up to 48 months in four successive 12-month periods, subject to the supplier meeting the required key performance indicators. The opportunity was identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises.

This award shows sustained NHS demand for specialist water safety and building-services maintenance in a hospital environment. A credible future competitor would need practical capability in maintaining thermostatic mixing valves, taps and wastewater pumping stations, together with an effective reactive maintenance response. Experience of managing waterborne infection risks, particularly legionella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, would be directly relevant to the Trust’s objectives. Suppliers should be able to maintain safe, reliable water systems serving patients, staff and visitors, and demonstrate consistent performance against key performance indicators. The requirement also suits businesses able to absorb additional assets and services as related contracts expire. Small and medium-sized maintenance specialists were considered suitable for this type of work.
