A significant amount of work has been carried out by the Fishing Industry and ICES to identify populations using the FSHSTK1D array, with Cefas adding to the geographical scope of the objectives by analysing areas currently lacking any information. The analysis of herring, horse mackerel and sprat single nucleotide polymorphism from tissue samples collected from across the northeast Atlantic. Tissues will be provided to IdentiGen (by Cefas) and analysed using the FSHSTK1D array. The returning raw SNP data, in fastq file format (or any other commonly utilised file type for sequencing data), will be used by Cefas to analyse population genomics of these species for various national and international research projects.
