## Summary

The Liverpool City Council is currently engaged in the procurement process for the "Spigot Repair Works - Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal," classified under marine construction works. This project is vital for refurbishing the steel spigots within the pontoons at the Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal, ensuring the stability of cruise operations. The procurement method employed is an open procedure, with the tender period ending on 22 November 2016. The contract period is set to commence on 1 January 2017 and conclude by 26 April 2017, just before the start of the cruise season in April 2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for firms specialising in marine construction and engineering services. Businesses capable of delivering complex refurbishment works, particularly in dry dock or in-situ environments, may find this contract aligns well with their capabilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, especially those with innovative solutions for undertaking the necessary repairs to the pontoon structures, potentially positioning themselves for further engagements in the thriving maritime sector.

## Notice

The successful contractor will be required to undertake the refurbishment of the steel spigots that are located within the four interconnected reinforced concrete pontoons that provide the dampening mechanism to the pontoons when there is a sea swell, tidal surge or wave movement to reduce the vertical and lateral movement enabling a more stable platform (berth) to carry out cruise operations at the Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal. The maintenance inspections carried out identified that major repair /refurbishment works are required as the steel spigot hinges and the nuts and bolts that secure the spigot to the concrete face of the pontoons have fractured or come loose. Currently temporary measures have been put in place to maintain operations, but it is essential repairs are carried out before the 2017 Cruise season which starts in April 2017. Additional information: Further information on this opportunity can be found at https://procontract.due-north.com. It is feasible to submit bids for either Option 1 or 2, or both options. Option 1 - For undertaking the works in a Dry Dock Environment or elsewhere based on a fully designed solution prepared by Royal Haskoning DHV for LCC. This design referred to as the "Reference Design" and included in the "Works Information" section of the Scope of Works. Option 2 - For Tenderer's Alternative Design proposal for carrying out the works in-situ without removing the pontoons to a dry dock.
