## Summary

The procurement process concerns the provision of services for a Cloud-Based Trusted Research Platform, facilitated by Newcastle University located in Newcastle, United Kingdom. This project falls under the information technology services category and is part of the Connected Health Cities initiative for the North East and North Cumbria. The procurement stage is at the Award phase, with the contract awarded on 16th July 2018, and the contract period commencing on 30th July 2018 and concluding on 16th October 2019. The tender has a total value of £310,000, with a minimum value of £180,000. This tender utilised an 'Other' procurement method as specified in the details.

This opportunity is particularly beneficial for businesses that specialise in information technology services, particularly those skilled in developing cloud-based data management solutions. Companies that focus on analytic platforms, middleware integrations, or trusted research environments could leverage this tender to expand their operations. As the project aims to support health and care data integration across various organisations, SMEs that can demonstrate capability in secure data handling and collaboration within the healthcare sector will be well-suited to compete for similar future contracts.

## Notice

The Connected Health Cities (North East and North Cumbria) Project - CHC NENC - requires a secure and trusted data environment within which to acquire, process, share and analyse health and care data/information from Hospitals, GP practices, community and social care settings, and 3rd sector organisations in the NE and North Cumbria. Central elements of the infrastructure to be procured are an ARK (i.e. an analytic platform providing a trusted research environment) and a Health Information Exchange (a middleware structure that will integrate and transmit data to and from all data nodes in the system). This proposed combination of an ARK and an HIE gives the project its name "ARCHIE". The ARCHIE project aims to provide proof of concept of key elements and information transfer nodes in this system, thereby facilitating the future vision of a region-wide Health and Care Information Services for the North East and North Cumbria. This future vision is widely known as the Great North Care Record (GNCR).
