It is part of a wider regeneration programme, currently at RIBA Stage 2, which will include the refurbishment of the Town Hall, the adjacent Colosseum Theatre (an arts venue of national significance including being home to the BBC Concert Orchestra) and Town Hall Annexe building, a later addition to the site constructed approximately 30 years ago.
