This service aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals suffering from leg ulcers through effective clinical care and advice. Currently in the planning stage, key milestones include an engagement end date of 1st March 2018. A market engagement event is set to take place on 28th February 2018 in Crawley, West Sussex, where interested parties can gain insights into the commissioning strategy and provide their feedback. This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the health services sector, particularly those that specialise in wound care and clinical treatment services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, especially those with expertise in managing leg ulcers and non-healing wounds. The envisioned contract duration is three years, commencing November 2018, which provides ample time for businesses to develop competitive proposals and establish themselves as preferred service providers in this essential healthcare market. ## Notice The aim of the Leg Ulcer and Non-Healing Wound Service is to improve the quality of life for people with or at risk of recurrence of leg ulcers through the delivery of clinically effective care and advice and reduce the risk of recurrence. The service will include the assessment, treatment and follow up for patients with leg ulcers of venous, arterial and mixed aetiology. The Commissioner wishes to use this market engagement opportunity to seek views about its strategy to commission the service. This is a process designed to help the Commissioner form a view of the best way to commission the service and is not the beginning of a Tender exercise. A further Tender advertisement will be issued at the appropriate time where required. The Commissioners previously considered the suitability to continue using the Any Qualified Provider provision but is now considering a procurement that will result in a single contract award. The service is aimed at adults who have been referred with a current leg ulcer for assessment, treatment and advice including after care to minimise recurrence, as long as they meet the referral criteria and do not have contra-indications. The management plan may include onward referral to specialist secondary care services where deemed appropriate. The service will also see and treat patients with non-healing wounds from Horsham and Mid Sussex practices that have not healed after 28 days management in primary care. The service will manage the care of the patient until healing has been achieved and the person can be discharged. The service is intended to drive improvements in the way in which leg ulcer and non-healing wound management services deliver care to patients. It should foster continued quality improvement and will expect providers to deliver clear and formal accountability processes and structures to ensure a safe, effective and integrated continuity of clinical care for all patients. It is envisaged that this will be a 3 year contract with an option of the Commissioner to extend for a further period. Service commencement is likely to be required November 2018. The value stated is an estimate for the envisaged 3 year period.
