## Summary

The Kent County Council, acting through KCS Professional Services, has initiated a procurement process for the provision of Electrical Vehicle Charging Points and Associated Services, titled "Electrical Vehicle Charging Points and Associated Services Y21002". This activity falls under the transport equipment and auxiliary products to transportation industry category and is planned to take place in Kent, England. The procurement method is open, and it aims to establish a regional Framework Agreement comprising two lots: LOT 1 for electric vehicle charging points and associated services, and LOT 2 for bus charging solutions. The current procurement stage is in the award phase, with a contract period set from 15 February 2021 until 31 August 2024. The total value of the awarded contract is estimated at £750 million.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in sustainable transport solutions, particularly those specializing in electric vehicle infrastructure, electrical engineering, and related technologies. Firms providing innovative products, installation services, and ongoing maintenance for electric vehicle charging stations would be well-placed to compete in this framework, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary or community sector enterprises (VCSEs) looking to expand their market presence. With the increasing demand for green transport solutions driven by government policies, businesses that align with these objectives can leverage this tender to enhance their growth and contribute to local sustainability efforts.

## Notice

KCS Professional Services, acting for and on behalf of Kent County Council (KCC) wish to create a regional, user friendly, time and cost-effective Framework Agreement for the supply of Electrical Vehicle Charging Points and Associated Services. This Framework will include two LOTS; LOT 1- Electrical Vehicle Charging Points & Associated Services Initially in Kent there will be 156 sites to start with, which require a range of charger speeds. It is expected that the supplier will fund most of the works and provide a revenue share back to the Customer. Government Grants (namely On-street Charging Scheme) could be applied for as part of the project and other external funding may be provided by project partners. The SE7 (South East Seven) are looking for Suppliers to provide an affordable charging network that will be widely used within the respective areas. Following the Governments pledge to cut carbon emissions by 80% by 2050, the sale of new petrol & diesel cars will be banned by 2035. This Framework Agreement will assist regional public sector organisations in being prepared for the increase in demand for charging points. LOT 2- Bus Charging Solutions Initially in Kent there is a requirement for an EV infrastructure that accommodates the power requirements and charging profile of Fastrack services. Infrastructure will need to be future proofed, taking into account service expansion as well as ensuring charge point hardware supports open protocol standards to allow flexibility of access and shared infrastructure opportunities to support increased electric bus future transition and wider community uptake. The opportunities will need to link and support the wider regeneration plans for the area allowing local communities to benefit from sustainable transport modes, access to charging infrastructure, local energy generation, support Zero Carbon plans and local air quality.
