## Summary

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is planning a tender process for a Strategic Archiving Solution. The solution will involve archiving data from end-of-life Pathology Laboratory Information Management Systems. The procurement stage is in the planning phase with the engagement end date set for 31st July 2024. The tender is related to archive services and software-related services, with the main procurement category being services. The buying organisation is located in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

This tender presents an opportunity for suppliers interested in providing a Strategic Archiving Solution based on a FHIR repository to engage with a consortium of NHS Trusts. The solution must be able to retain data for at least thirty years and facilitate scalability to accommodate data from various clinical disciplines. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be well-suited to compete for this opportunity. Interested suppliers should respond to the questionnaire via the online form on the Health Family Single eCommercial System Portal by 31st July 2024.

## Notice

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is one of the largest teaching hospital Trusts in England and the West Midlands, serving a regional, national and international population. It includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham Chest Clinic, Good Hope Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and various Community Services. We also run a number of smaller satellite units, allowing people to be treated as close to home as possible. As an NHS organisation, UHB will see and treat more than 2.2 million people every year across our sites UHB currently employs over 24,000 members of staff and we are committed to investing in their development and their health and well-being. A consortium of NHS Trusts (University Hospitals Birmingham and Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital) requires a solution for archiving data from several end-of-life Pathology Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), based upon a FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) repository. Source data will include both reportable results type data and non-reportable data. Data must be retained for at least thirty years and remain accessible for continued daily interrogation. The consortium anticipates that source data extracted from the legacy LIMS will be transformed to FHIR format and this is expected to be bulk loaded to initialise the repository. The solution is also expected to be populated with ongoing data from the new LIMS to eliminate the possibility of vendor lock-in and facilitate any future exit strategy from the replacement LIMS. The solution is expected to become a strategic building block that can scale to accommodate data from other systems and clinical disciplines as these reach their end-of-life. The consortium is seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its requirement for a Strategic Archiving Solution based upon a FHIR repository. The potential term the Authority seeks is for an initial term of 5 years and the option to extend for up to 10 years. For the purpose of the pre-market engagement, please provide costings for the initial contract term. Additional information: Suppliers wishing to participate in this market engagement exercise and express an interest in this requirement should respond to the questionnaire via the online form on the Health Family Single eCommercial System Portal (Atamis) by 16:00 on Wednesday 31st July 2024. https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome Please search for C293366
