## Summary

Durham County Council is seeking accommodation solutions for a 19-year-old male currently residing in a Children's Residential Service. The tender, titled "Accommodation Required in County Durham DN605514," falls under the health and social work services category (CPV Code: 85000000) and is based in the North East of the United Kingdom. This open procurement process has a tender period ending on 14th April 2022, with a contract duration starting from 22nd April 2022 up until 1st April 2024. Interested parties must submit suitable property options by the deadline provided, with a preference for locations in Newton Aycliffe or the Durham/Chester-le-Street areas.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the property and social care sectors, especially those offering single-occupancy accommodation solutions tailored to individuals with specialised needs. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) would be particularly well-suited to participate, offering safe, supportive, and self-contained living spaces that incorporate provisions for staff support and proximity to local amenities. This initiative not only contributes to the welfare of vulnerable residents but also enables businesses to engage in impactful community services.

## Notice

Accomodation required for 19 year old male (X) who is currently living in a Childrens Residential Service. We are looking for single occupancy accommodation for X who will need his own self-contained property due to finding it too disruptive and challenging to live with other residents. He has a staff team in place which provides 2:1 support and the team will provide the care and support in the property that is found. A detached or semi-detached property is desired which is close to a small local town where he can access shops and other local amenities; and also allow for X to have his own space as well as space for the 2 staff. There would need to be a space for staff to sleep over, such as a separate room, annexe or convertible garage. X has advised that having a garden is important to him where he can get some fresh air and also busk outside. He has high level needs which make him extremely vulnerable and would therefore need to reside in a safe and quiet neighbourhood. He can become fixated on his neighbours and he is very sensitive to noise so he would need some distance from his neighbours. The preference would be to live in the Newton Aycliffe area where he has existing connections with local amenities and feels he is an active member of the local community; or in the Durham/Chester-le-Street area which is closer to family and he is familiar with the area.
