## Summary

The Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) is currently seeking tenders for the procurement of a CNC machining capacity, aimed at rapid production of machined parts. This procurement falls under the 'Machine tools' industry category and is situated in the South West region of the United Kingdom. The open tender, identified as UWE/003/2019E, is active and is set to close on 2nd May 2019. The estimated value of the contract is £200,000, with a minimum threshold of £150,000. The successful contractor will be required to service the laboratory's needs from September 2019 to September 2021, with an emphasis on minimal setup for variable job sizes and complexity of machined parts.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the machinery and manufacturing sectors, particularly those specialising in machine tools, CNC technology, and automation solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that offer innovative machining solutions or have experience with bespoke machinery are well-suited to compete for this contract. Companies that are adept at working with materials like Medical Grade Stainless Steel and Aluminium Alloys will find this opportunity particularly relevant, as BRL requires a diverse range of machined components for research and educational purposes.

## Notice

Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) wish to add a CNC machining capacity to the BRL facilities for the rapid production of one-off machined parts. The research and teaching within the laboratory require both large (over 500mm on largest dimension) structural parts, and small (under 100mm) precision 5-axis parts with small feature sizes (circa 0.3mm diameter tooling). The machine would be expected to machine materials such as Medical Grade Stainless Steel, Aluminium Alloys, Brass, Perspex, Acetal, Nylon, PTFE. It is vitally important that the tendered machine should require the minimum of setup for each job, as the work of the lab rarely will require more than one of each part, therefore the setup time (clamping setup, datum setup, tool setup, file processing etc) should be minimised and automated as far as possible. On this basis an integrated probing system, tool changer, tool sensor and software integration are required. We will also supply a number of part files (3 and 5 Axis) for which if possible we would like a broken down time scale for producing from a bare machine, including machine setup time, tool setup time, part/post processing (to generate code), datum setting and machining time to produce. (See Appendix B and attached files). Additional information: Please Register your interest on the HE In-Tend Portal https://in-tendhost.co.uk/he/aspx/Home Is a Recurrent Procurement Type? : No
