## Summary

The Home Office is initiating a procurement process for the "Police & Fire Medical Appeal Board Service," part of the health and social work services sector and identifiable under the classification of business services. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a key milestone set for the engagement end date on 21 March 2019. This framework agreement is expected to be available to all police and fire authorities across the UK, and interested parties are encouraged to complete a questionnaire to express their interest by the aforementioned deadline.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in medical consultancy, claims management, and related areas to engage with the public sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that possess the requisite capabilities to manage independent appeal boards comprising qualified medical practitioners would be particularly well-prepared to compete. The accessible framework allows businesses to establish long-term relationships with police and fire authorities, facilitating growth through the delivery of vital services in public health and safety.

## Notice

The Secretary of State for the Home Department has overall responsibility for policing and fire policy. As part of this responsibility, the Department is empowered to consider any appeal by a pension scheme member against a decision made by a police force or fire authority in relation to an ill-health pension or injury benefit award. In order to administer such appeals, the Department appoints a contractor with the capability to manage independent appeal boards staffed by qualified medical practitioners. The resultant agreement is likely to be of a framework in nature, allowing police & fire customers to call off the service as required. The framework will be accessible to all UK police and fire authorities. The attached questionnaire is to test market interest, capability and to afford the opportunity for organisations to provide feedback Additional information: Please complete the short questionnaire and return it to: collaborativeprocurement@homeoffice.gov.uk no later than mid-day on 21st March 2019
