The Council currently collect around 42,000 tonnes of co-mingled DMR at kerbside each year which is then processed at either the Council's and/or Contractors MRF prior to the resulting product being processed for subsequent sale. Currently; glass, cans, plastic. Paper and card are collected in the same kerbside bin. This may change to segregated collections during the contract, subject to the announcement on the "Consistent Collections" policy. The main objective of the contract is to divert waste away from landfill and to improve the Council's National Indicator "NI192" performance. The contract is required to start approximately 19th June 2023 and will run for a fixed period of three years until 31st May 2026 with the option to extend for an additional two-year period.
