## Summary

The contract titled "EKFB JV - Supply of Bridge Deck Sub Surface drainage" is open for procurement by BIP Solutions Limited, focusing on the construction industry, specifically bridge construction works. This tender is currently in the Tender stage, with a deadline for submissions set for 15 July 2022. The contract is expected to commence on 4 December 2022 and will run until 10 December 2023. ## Notice

The subsurface drainage system for bridge decks is to comprise a proprietary system consisting of perforated metal tubes laid on top of the deck waterproofing. The system shall have a minimum Design Working Life of 30 years, to match the bridge deck waterproofing system. Pipes are to be manufactured from aluminium or galvanised mild steel and have slots or perforations at regular intervals to receive any water trapped above the waterproofing. Pipes are to have a flat underside and a minimum cross sectional area of 1250mm2. Pipes are to be manufactured to have interconnectivity for components such for T-joints and discharge pipes. The system is to be compatible with the hydraulic relief drainage system for the expansion joints. The system is to be compliant with the Highways England Standard BA26/94. Pipes shall be installed directly onto the waterproofing layer using a polyester resin to prevent any voids forming during installation. The polyester resin shall be compatible with the deck waterproofing system. Pipes shall be heat proof so that they are not adversely affected by the laying of hot road construction materials. End stops to the system are to be used during installation to prevent ingression of road construction materials. A linked proprietary flushing unit shall be installed at each bridge joint location, within the verge provided there is adequate room. The outfall pipes will need to incorporate a system, most likely comprising a sleeve and gaskets, to accommodate movement between the bridge deck and the concrete support block to the asphaltic plug joint.
