## Summary

The British Museum has initiated a tender process for the project titled "British Museum Western Range Competition to find an Architect-Led Design Team". The procurement involves architectural and related services, with a total value of £22,000,000. The tender is following a selective procurement method with a restricted procedure. The deadline for tender submissions is on June 21, 2024, while the contract period is set to start on February 20, 2025, and end on February 19, 2036. The project is located in London, United Kingdom, and is aimed at re-envisaging and transforming key parts of the Bloomsbury site.

This tender by The Trustees of the British Museum presents an opportunity for architectural firms and related service providers to collaborate on a significant building project. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate. The project's ambition is to restore the Western Range, enhance the visitor experience, and improve collections storage, thereby making the collection more accessible to the Museum's audiences. Businesses in the architectural and construction industries are well-suited to compete and potentially contribute to this transformative endeavour.

## Notice

The British Museum is delighted to launch this international competition to choose a visionary, architect-led design team to work with the Museum to develop an extraordinary design for a significant part of its Bloomsbury site: The Western Range. This is an important commission to re-envisage and transform key parts of the main, iconic site in Bloomsbury. This will be the Museum's biggest building project since the 1820s, when work commenced on the original quadrangle. The ambition is significant: to restore the Western Range and, in so doing, reimagine a third of the existing gallery area, deliver improved collections storage and create new amenities to enhance the visitor experience, making the collection as accessible as possible to all the Museum's audiences.
