## Summary

De Montfort University (DMU) is seeking a Research Data Management solution to enhance the management of active research data, ensuring compliance with various funding requirements including those set by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) and Horizon 2020. The procurement process is currently in the Tender stage, with submissions due by 19th June 2017. The contract is expected to commence on 2nd October 2017 and will last for three years, concluding on 1st October 2020, with an option for early termination by DMU with three months' notice. The focus sector for this procurement is Data storage services, and proposals need to reflect both on-premises and potential cloud or hybrid solutions.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in data storage and management technologies, particularly those offering innovative solutions to support research environments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in developing compliant and adaptable data management frameworks may find this project particularly suited to their capabilities. Suppliers should consider showcasing their experiences in similar academic settings and their ability to provide robust support throughout the contract's duration, especially during the piloting phase beginning in October 2017.

Included in phase one, we expect tenders to include a broad description of how they would anticipate meeting our data storage needs with their solutions. We intend to shortlist to no more than 4 suppliers in phase one. In phase two, we will be asking those shortlisted suppliers to state how they will meet our full and final requirements, including data storage options. To that end, we attach our high level requirements for phase one, including our minimum acceptance criteria for data storage. Full data storage requirements will be issued in phase two. DMU has an in-house full virtualised data centre. We are open to the possibilities of a fully cloud or hybrid solution. The expected term of the proposed contract is three (3) years.
