## Summary

The procurement process initiated by Newcastle University involves the tender for the supply of a Small Particle Flow Cytometer, which is aimed at enhancing capabilities for analysing aquatic samples, including drinking and waste waters. The procurement stage is currently active, with the tender period set to conclude on 17th August 2020. The estimated value of the contract is £100,000, and the contract period is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2020 and conclude by 30th October 2020. This procurement falls under the goods category, specifically identifying instruments for checking physical characteristics.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment and high-throughput analysis technologies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, given the specifications and support requirements outlined in the tender documentation. Businesses that can provide effective after-sales support and demonstrate the ability to deliver and install complex scientific instruments will find this an advantageous opportunity for growth.

## Notice

The University wants to purchase a flow cytometer system with a clear and demonstrable ability to detect sub-micron particles such as bacteria, viruses and exosomes over system noise in a high-throughput manner, primarily for the analysis of aquatic samples (drinking, waste and sea waters). It will be part of the Newcastle Flow Cytometry Core Facility (NU-FCCF) but will form a new satellite facility within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) that will focus on aquatic-based flow cytometry. Funds to purchase the system have been provided by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) through the "Core Equipment" call. The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment as detailed in the ITT to the University, with after-sales support and 36 months warranty and maintenance.
