## Summary

The UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD has completed the procurement process for the "Asymmetric Field-Flow Fractional System," which falls under the category of installation services for laboratory equipment and addresses research laboratory services. The contract, valued at £85,000, is situated in Yorkshire and the Humber, UK. The tender period for submissions ended on 5 June 2017, with the contract period running from 2 October 2017 to 3 October 2017. The procurement method employed was an open procedure, indicating that it was open to all eligible suppliers.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment installation and related research services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the sector can particularly benefit from this contract, as it emphasises collaboration on innovative research projects. Businesses that provide advanced detection systems and laboratory instruments, especially those with expertise in liquid-phase separation technologies, are well-suited to compete successfully.

## Notice

As part of a research project funded by the BBSRC, a unique liquid-phase separation system is required to analyse and detect molecular species formed during the aggregation of the peptide amyloid beta 1-42. The AF4 system together with UV/Vis and RI detector must be capable of separating and quantifying species with a wide range of molecular weights, as well as being able to do this at low concentrations and with the minimum disruption to the concentration of the injected sample to maintain a similar distribution of aggregates during the analysis. To enable this, the system must be able to be connected to an exisiting MALS detector, namely a Wyatt Dawn DSP (1998 model).
