## Summary

The procurement process involves the Department for Work and Pensions, which is seeking technical support for the assessment of fault studies related to the construction and operation of two EPRs at the HPC site in the UK. The procurement falls under the category of research and development services, with a contract value of £282,971.25. The tender stage is complete, with the award granted on 23rd February 2015, and the contract period running from 2nd March 2015 to 31st January 2017. The tender was initially due for submission by 1st March 2015.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for consultancy firms, especially those specialising in nuclear safety and engineering. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to compete, given the potential for growth in the niche market of nuclear infrastructure development. Businesses with expertise in fault assessment, regulatory compliance, and safety evaluations will be particularly suited to engage in such tenders, leveraging the complexities associated with nuclear project regulations.

## Notice

The HPC site has recently been licensed by the ONR to allow the Licensee, to construct and operate two EPRs. The HPC safety case documentation to support this activity is large and complex and a full assessment by ONR of Fault Studies aspects requires input from a number of specialists and skill areas. 1.2 Nuclear safety aspects of the construction, commissioning and operation of the site will be regulated by ONR via a series of regulatory permissioning points under specific Licence Conditions attached to the HPC site licence. The assessment work that supports the different permissioning points, up to granting of the Consent for Nuclear Island Concrete, is split into a number of stages.
