## Summary

Nottinghamshire County Council is in the awarding stage for the contract titled "Funeral Services - Care Home Residents" within the funeral and related services industry. This procurement process is focused on providing funeral services for those who pass away in care homes across Nottinghamshire, not including Nottingham City. The contract is valued at £450,000 and is set to commence on 1st April 2021, with an expected duration of three years and a potential extension of up to two additional years. The tender period ended on 26th October 2020, and interested parties are advised to refer to Nottinghamshire County Council for further details.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in funeral services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector organisations (VCSEs). The estimated provision of approximately thirty funerals per year opens avenues for companies equipped to handle these services, enabling them to expand their client base through municipal contracts. With a strong emphasis on community involvement and support, firms with experience in caring and compassionate service delivery are particularly well-suited to compete for this contract.

## Notice

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced organisation to deliver Funeral Services across Nottinghamshire (excluding Nottingham City). The Council has a statutory duty under Section 46 of the Public Health (Control of Diseases) Act 1984 to undertake the cremation or burial of people who die whilst living in residential and nursing care accommodation and who have no-one willing or able to make funeral arrangements for them. It is estimated that the contract will involve the provision of approximately thirty funerals per year. The contract will be awarded for an initial period of three years. There is an option to extend for up to a further two years in twelve month increments.
