## Summary

The Historic England Heritage Protection Commissions is seeking bids for the "7400 Lincolnshire Long Barrows Assessment Project (Fieldwork contract)", which falls under the services category, specifically related to research and development services and related consultancy services. This open procurement procedure aims to enhance the understanding and management of Neolithic long barrows in Lincolnshire, particularly in the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The tender period ends on 12th December 2016, and the contract is expected to commence on 16th January 2017, concluding on 30th April 2018. Interested suppliers should initiate their bids through the Historic England procurement system, InTend.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for organisations specialising in archaeological assessment, environmental consultancy, and fieldwork services, particularly those with experience in historic site management and geophysical surveys. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be well-suited to compete for this contract, as they can offer specialised services and tailored approaches to meet the specific requirements of the project. Additionally, the contract's location in Lincolnshire makes it ideal for local businesses looking to expand their portfolio in heritage protection and archaeological services.

## Notice

This brief is for the contracted out element of the Lincolnshire Long Barrows Project, an Historic England initiative to better understand and manage the early Neolithic long barrows of Lincolnshire, the majority of which lie within the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Burial mounds are in general an elevated risk category of ancient monuments and the long barrows of Lincolnshire are particularly subject to pressures from modern cultivation. We are seeking to contract an organisation to conduct farm visits and field recoding on at least 100 sites in the historic County of Lincolnshire (i.e. including North and North East Lincolnshire), the majority of these sites will lie within the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. On a targeted subset of sites the contractor is to carryout geophysical survey and on a subset of these targeted evaluation excavation.
