## Summary

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has completed a public procurement process for the provision of a canine support solution, titled "Canine Support Solution," under the industry category of Animal products and related products (CPV: 03140000). The procurement method was an open procedure above the threshold, with the tender period ending on 1st July 2024. The contract, valued at £3.1 million, spans five years with an option to extend by two additional years, potentially making it a seven-year contract. The contract was awarded to VON WOLF K9 SPORT & SERVICE DOG EQUIPMENT LIMITED and will serve multiple locations, including the UK, British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Europe, and the Rest of the World. The contract period will commence on 28th November 2024 and conclude on 27th November 2029.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specializing in manufacturing and supplying military working dog support products. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in providing high-quality canine equipment, such as harnesses, leads, and bespoke training aids, will find this contract aligns well with their capabilities. The procurement is aimed at maintaining high welfare standards for military working dogs, in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the DEFRA Code of Practice for the Welfare of Dogs 2017. Suppliers focusing on innovative and welfare-oriented dog products will be in a strong position to benefit from this opportunity. The MOD’s commitment to long-term contracts underscores a stable and potentially lucrative partnership for the awarded suppliers.
