## Summary

The University of Huddersfield is currently seeking suppliers for a Benchtop Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) System. This procurement falls under the goods category and is particularly relevant to the scientific research sector. The tender is open and will conclude on 6th October 2017, with a contract period commencing on 13th October 2017 and extending until 31st January 2018. The NMR system will be delivered to Huddersfield, Yorkshire and the Humber, United Kingdom, at postal code HD1 3DH. This tender follows an open procurement method, allowing various suppliers to submit their bids.

This opportunity presents significant growth potential for businesses specialising in scientific instrumentation, manufacturing of nuclear magnetic resonance equipment, or related technological innovations. Companies that offer custom solutions in NMR technology or can provide the specific features outlined, such as high sensitivity and optical access for illumination, will be well-suited to compete. Additionally, suppliers with experience in developing cryogen-free systems or automated control systems for laboratory equipment may find this tender particularly rewarding.

## Notice

The University of Huddersfield seeks to purchase a Benchtop NMR system for optically generated hyperpolarization studies. A benchtop nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system is required for research into a new method of signal enhancement in NMR spectroscopy, which is dependent upon optical illumination of the liquid sample prior to measurement. The research project will include an investigation of the effects of illumination at different magnetic field strengths prior to transfer to the detection field. The key requirement of the system is therefore that optical access must be possible to illuminate the sample at a variable height within the magnet bore where the static magnetic field is >= 350 mT, and that rapid flow from the illumination region to the NMR detection coil is possible (transfer time to be short compared to T1, maximum transfer time 0.5 s). Minimum permissible clearance around sample tubing in magnet bore for insertion of fibre optics is 6 mm radially. NMR spectrometer specifications: 1H and 13C detection at a magnetic field of around 1 T (approx. 43 MHz and 11 MHz NMR frequencies) High 1H sensitivity (at least 50:1 in single scan on 1% ethyl benzene or similar) Linewidth < 0.5 Hz at 50% and < 20Hz at 0.55% Field stability better than 0.01 ppm Deuterium free lock for experiments on non-deuterated solvents Ability to shim on user sample in addition to any manufacturer specified standard sample Demonstration that shimming is stable during laser illumination (min. 1 W at 532 nm) for up to 10 s within magnet bore Desirable: Magnet temperature readout to indicate if laser illumination has caused magnet heating Ability to write user-defined pulse programmes or scripts triggering a minimum of two separate TTL outputs for synchronisation with laser equipment at a defined time relative to NMR acquisition. Low jitter level for TTL outputs required, 0.1 s max. Available pulse sequences to include standard 1D and 2D experiments for each nucleus, reaction monitoring, relaxation measurements (T1 and T2), and 13C detection with 1H decoupling. Flow system: Pump and all connecting tubing supplied for continuous or intermittent flow of sample solutions through spectrometer Spectrometer stand to be supplied to allow easy access for insertion of optical components into a vertical magnet bore from below Flow system made from optically transparent (T > 90% 400-700 nm) material (e.g. glass or quartz) in the accessible illumination region (>= 350 mT) within the magnet bore Computer control of sample flow for synchronisation with user-defined NMR pulse programmes or reaction monitoring scripts System requirements: Cryogen-free system No external cooling water needed Computing: Spectrometer to be supplied with control computer and all standard peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse); minimum hard ...
