## Summary

St. George The Martyr Church in London is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor for a significant capital project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This project involves preserving the historic fabric of the Grade II* listed church, necessitated by its inclusion on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register due to structural issues. Located in the heart of London's Knowledge Quarter, the church serves as a vital community anchor. The procurement process is currently in the tender stage with an open procedure approach, and interested parties should note that the deadline for submission is 31st October 2025. The contract is set to commence on 1st December 2025 and conclude by February 2030, with a project value of £85,540.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses in the architectural, construction, and engineering industries. Ideal candidates should have expertise in historic building conservation and a keen interest in projects that enhance community spaces. The project is well-suited for SMEs given the procurement's emphasis on inclusivity for smaller enterprises. By engaging in this project, businesses can leverage their capabilities in sustainable building practices and heritage preservation to broaden their portfolio and establish a reputation in the heritage sector.

## Notice

St George the Martyr, Queen Square, WC1N 3AH is seeking a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor. This commission forms part of a major National Lottery Heritage Fund supported capital project aimed at safeguarding the future of this beautiful Grade II* listed building. Located in the heart of London's Knowledge Quarter, St George the Martyr stands as a peaceful sanctuary amid the bustle of the city. Designed in 1706 and enhanced under the supervision of Nicholas Hawksmoor, with major 19th-century works by Samuel Sanders Teulon, the church has long served the Bloomsbury community and beyond. Today, it remains rooted in its local neighbourhood while embracing a mission to welcome all who live, work, study or pass through the area. Despite its active ministry and community engagement, the building is currently on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register following the partial collapse of its historically important Hawksmoor ceiling in 2018. This exciting capital project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore that ceiling and address wider repairs to the historic fabric, while reimagining the church's role for a diverse and evolving city. Alongside the urgent conservation work, the church plans to transform underused interior spaces, improve accessibility and environmental sustainability, and develop new facilities to support both community and commercial use. St George the Martyr now invites a Quantity Surveyor to join the consultant team helping to bring this vision to life. To receive the full tender brief, please contact Abi Morris, Client Project Manager.
