## Summary

The North Tyneside Council is seeking applications for the "River Tyne North Bank Study," which falls under the research and development services sector. This project is crucial as it aims to secure the economic future of the North Bank of the Tyne, a significant employment corridor in the offshore and sub-sea industry. The procurement process is currently at the Award stage, having been initiated as a tender. The deadline for potential suppliers to submit their applications was before noon on 30th November 2020, with the contract period commencing on 4th January 2021 and concluding on 30th April 2021.

This tender presents a prime opportunity for businesses in the research and development sector, particularly those with expertise in consultancy services related to economic studies, low-carbon transport, and urban development. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are strongly encouraged to participate, as the project aims to foster local engagement and secure inward investment. Companies that can address infrastructure needs, develop training programs, and contribute to cultural and leisure improvements along the river will be especially well-suited to compete for this contract.

## Notice

The Authority is seeking applications from suitable organisations that are interested in tendering for River Tyne North Bank Study. This project is part funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority. The North Bank of the Tyne is a large and strategically important employment corridor, providing the primary location for a nationally significant cluster of businesses in the offshore and sub-sea sector. This study will help secure the economic future of the river, including as businesses transition towards a low-carbon future, whilst also considering the wider cultural, leisure and residential offer that the river brings to the region. This study will lead to the production of a detailed set of evidence and a common narrative for the North Bank of the River Tyne. This will enable the North Tyneside and Newcastle Councils, together with the North of Tyne Combined Authority and wider partners, to: * maximise the opportunities for Government investment along the Tyne * highlight future priority infrastructure requirements * understand how best to address challenges faced in the use of the river for transport purposes * secure further inward investment * identify future skills and training needs for the sector * better articulate the cultural, leisure and residential offer along the river * highlight low-carbon transport access issues and their impact on economic and wider objectives * understand the spatial implications of different uses of riverside frontage Applicants wishing to register their interest against this opportunity and have access to the tender documents should go to the ProContract electronic tendering portal on the web site located at https://procontract.due-north.com/SupplierPreLoginHome To register an interest in the above opportunity: Select Find opportunities, then with in the Organisations filter, select North Tyneside Council and then Update (located at the bottom of the screen) to see current opportunities.
